Title

Dr. Ring Letter, September 23, 1846

Subject

Antebellum Plantation Life

Description

Dr. Ring asks Paul Cameron if he would be willing to ship his cotton via Captain Oliver's landing instead of Candy's Landing. He also discusses treating four slaves and the death of one healthy 50 year old male slave named Limon who collapsed somewhat unexpectedly with a fever. The doctor notes that "no blame [for the slave's death] so far as I could ascertain was to be attached" to the overseer Lewellyn, as if there might be some question to his treatment of the slaves.
